This blog is about Stockton Chorale, one of the foremost choirs on FeelitLIVE. They have held multiple concerts through our virtual platform, and have reached audiences across the country as a result. Read more about the Chorale here.

About Stockton Chorale

Just as choirs are central to everything we do at FeelitLIVE, The Stockton Chorale has been a bedrock of the Stockton community in California’s Central Valley for 70 years, bringing the community together through their choral music. This aligns with their mission ‘To inspire joy and enrich our community through choral music’.

The Chorale was founded by Arthur J. Holton II as a double quartet in 1951 and became an auditioned community chorus in 1952. Since then, the Chorale has expanded considerably up to 190 voices, including a range of choral ensembles across ages.

Today, prospective members from ages 9 to 90 without any previous musical experience can choose to join five different choral groups across adult and youth categories.

Children can choose to join the Youth Chorale for a great start towards singing and developing lifelong skills. To know more about the benefits of joining a choir, check out our blog on this topic.

In the words of the Chorale, ‘The specific purpose of the Chorale is to promote the vocal and choral arts through the highest quality performance of musical literature’s great works, thereby providing a means for cultural exchange, music education, and musical enrichment for the Chorale membership and the community and society at large; to reinvigorate interest in vocal arts throughout the Central Valley region and its multicultural population; and to carry on other charitable and educational activities and events associated with these goals.

Performances

The Chorale has had collaborations with the Stockton Symphony, the Stockton Opera, the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific, the Sacramento Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Bear Valley Orchestra, the Glendale Symphony, Carmen Dragon, and the Manhattan Symphony of New York in Carnegie and Avery Fisher Halls.

The Chorale performs up to four major concerts every year and has had multiple appearances at the Carnegie Hall. Including a performance at the Shrewsbury International Music Festival in 1998 and St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican in 2005, the Chorale has participated in a lot of international tours in France, Austria, the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Australia, and New Zealand.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chorale focused more on virtual performances, and their upcoming performance called Celebrate Music: A Celebration of Singing is happening on May 23, 2022. A summary of the event - This is a celebration of music and singing featuring a new composition by Daniel Hughes. This concert will bring together all of the choirs within the Stockton Chorale organization, closing our 70th season. All of our choirs will perform - Stockton Chorale, Stockton Singers, Master Chorale, Stockton Youth Chorale, and Valley Youth A Cappella.

You can find the upcoming virtual events of Stockton Chorale, along with on-demand performances like the Christmas Showcase, 2020 Choral Highlights, Fourth of July Special, and Winter Wonderland songs here.
