Menlo Park, CA - October 25, 2021 - FeelitLIVE, Inc., the creators of the FeelitLIVE virtual and hybrid events platform, today announced the winners of America’s Top Choirs - High School Edition - the largest and most inclusive online high school choral competition in America.
The Keller Central High School Chamber Women from Keller Central High School in Fort Worth, Texas were named Grand Prize Winner after earning the highest score among the top 10 semifinalists. As Grand Prize Winner, the group will receive a $2,500 cash prize and the 2021 America’s Top Choirs trophy.
“We are so grateful and thrilled to receive this recognition. Thank you so much for providing this amazing opportunity for high school choirs to showcase our talented kids”, said Ms. Leigh Ann McClure, Director of Choral Programs at Keller Central High School. “ I believe that the recognition we received will be an encouragement to even more Texas choirs to submit entries in the coming years.”
High school choirs from across the country were invited to upload a song performance recorded during the 2020-2021 academic year. The contest received a multitude of submissions from schools from across the country. A judges’ panel of leading choral experts evaluated the entries and the viewing audience was invited to vote during the live finale which premiered on October 24, 2021 at 6PM PT / 9PM ET.
“Wonderful to see and hear the incredible videos submitted by the talented students and their directors for the first-ever America’s Top Choirs event,” said Dr. Edith Copley, Regents’ Professor and Director of Choral Studies at Northern Arizona University and incoming National ACDA President, and a judge on the esteemed panel of judges for the competition. “Amazing that these submissions were produced during COVID last year. Congratulations to everyone who participated!”
The top 10 finalists were selected based on an overall 40 point score with 30 points derived from the judge’s criteria of Technical Evaluation, Musical and Artistic Criteria, and Overall Artistic Impression, along with Audience Scoring which accounted for 10 points.
